Gas Boiler Upgrades

  • Energy efficiency – a modern boiler can reduce fuel consumption and your household’s carbon footprint.

  • Better performance – upgrading your boiler can provide more consistent and even heating along with an improved hot water supply.

  • Improved reliability – new boilers have a longer lifespan, require less maintenance, and come with more advanced safety features.

  • Cheaper than you think – many households are eligible for a government grant under the ECO4 or LA Flex scheme. You can get a free survey to find out what funding is available to you.

Condensing Boilers

Gas boilers are the most commonly used heating in the UK and many of them are inefficient models. When spending our income on our energy bills, we want to ensure we can reduce the amount we spend we much as we can - a high efficient boiler is the most efficient way to do so.

There are different types of high efficient boilers:

  1. Combi Boilers: This type contains most of the required components of a heating system within the boiler itself meaning there is no longer the need for tanks around your house taking up space. Combi boilers provide hot water on demand.

  2. Heat Only Boilers: This boiler stores hot water in a tank making it more suitable to larger properties due to their ability to provide hot water for multiple taps and showers.

  3. System Boilers: this type of boiler is commonly found in larger homes with greater demands for heating and hot water. By featuring a separate cylinder for storing water, system boilers are able to provide a constant supply of hot water throughout the home, unlike combi boilers which can only heat water on demand.

MPC Energy are one of the UK’s trusted installers of gas boilers, with our Gas Safe registered engineers and our long standing relationships with many of the top UK manufacturers.

Funding is available to upgrade your old boiler to a modern A-rated boiler or to find out more with a quick and easy online quotation.

First Time Central Heating

MPC Energy are fully accredited to upgrade your heating and install a central heating system. Converting properties from electric or other off-gas heating sources will help towards reducing carbon emission in the UK. It will also make your home a more comfortable and efficient place to live in. A first time central heating installation will include the boiler, radiators and all pipework. MPC Energy can also include standard or smart heating controls.

If your property doesn’t have (and has never had) central heating and you have a gas connection prior to April 2022, you may be able to switch from your current heating to a full central heating system with a grant secured by MPC Energy.

If your home did not have a mains gas supply prior to 31st March 2022 you may qualify for a grant to install an air source heat pump.

Heating Controls

Traditional thermostats will allow you to change the temperature in your home and with TRV’s (thermostat radiator valve) located on each radiators, you can now change the temperature in each room using the dials.

SMART heating controls allows for the same functions, but remotely. This means you can give your heating time schedules to come on and off its self - saving you energy by not having the heating on in an empty house.

All of the boilers we install come with a minimum of a 2 year Manufacturer Warranty and 1 year Workmanship Warranty. All boiler and heating system installs are carried out by our experienced engineers who are all Gas Safe registered.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • While combi boilers are one of the most efficient options, condensing boilers are the most energy-efficient boilers today. Designed to capture and reuse heat by condensing vapor into water, condensing boilers represent the pinnacle of modern boiler technology. By ensuring nearly all the fuel used is converted into heat for your home, condensing boilers offer significant savings on fuel costs. They also help reduce carbon dioxide emissions, making them an ideal choice for environmentally conscious homeowners.

  • While new boilers are typically more efficient than older ones, this can vary significantly depending on the boiler type and model. Not all new boilers are created equal. Some may not utilise the latest condensing technology, rendering them little more efficient than an older model. Researching and selecting a boiler that meets your household’s heating and energy efficiency needs is crucial. Additionally, the installation of a boiler may impact its efficiency. Therefore, you should consult a qualified team of professionals, such as MPC Energy, for the best advice and installation in your area.

  • The government recognises the importance of encouraging residents to switch to more energy-efficient heating solutions. Several subsidies and financial assistance programs have been established to help lower the cost barrier for homeowners looking to upgrade their boilers. One notable example is the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme. Currently in the ECO4 phase, this scheme requires some of the largest energy companies to help eligible households upgrade their energy efficiency. Funding is calculated using your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).

The Local Authority Flexible Eligibility (LA Flex) is another branch of ECO funding helping low-income homeowners and private tenants install more energy-efficient measures. These subsidies are part of Scotland’s broader strategy to reduce carbon emissions and make energy costs more affordable for citizens, ensuring everyone has access to a warm, energy-efficient home. Apply for funding today.

  • Eligibility for boiler grants in Scotland is primarily determined by household income, the home’s energy efficiency status, and whether the applicant is part of a vulnerable group, such as the elderly or those on certain benefits. Each program has specific criteria, so homeowners should consult professionals to determine their eligibility. Contact us and we can apply for funding on your behalf for free. We’ll also provide energy assessments to see what improvements can be made and if you qualify for funding.
