Energy Company Obligation

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme is a UK government-led energy efficiency scheme that promotes the reduction of carbon emissions and tackles fuel poverty. The scheme requires the UK’s big energy companies to financially help eligible households become more energy-efficient. Currently in the ECO4 phase, the current scheme will run until March 2026.

The ECO4 funding is calculated through the use of your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). Properties rated band F or G for energy efficiency are able to make use of the grants to bring your rating up to a band D or higher, and similarly, properties rated band E or D are required to be brought up to a band C or higher.

If you are unsure of your properties rating, contact us now to arrange an energy assessment.

Here are the benefits that will qualify you for ECO4 funding:

  • Income based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)

  • Income related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

  • Income Support (IS)

  • Housing Benefit

  • Child Benefit (subject to income caps and composition)

  • Working Tax Credit (WTC)

  • Child Tax Credit (CTC)

  • Universal Credit (UC)

  • Pension Credit Guarantee Credit (PCGC)

  • Pension Credit Savings Credit (PCSC)

Receiving one of the following benefits is a common way of qualifying for funding but even if you’re not on any sort of benefits, we can still help by way of your Local Authority funding.
